Beaudesert Day 4
|
26th May 2009, 22:18
|
Today we have been on our day trip out. We went to Drayton Mannor Theme
Park. It was a fab day, we went on lots of rides, some of the cubs even
brave enough to go on a ride which spun them upside down. Some of the not
so brave leaders sat and held the bags!
Although the rain stayed away it did not stop us getting wet! The final
ride of the day was Stormforce 10, a log flume. We all jumped in the
boats, 8 people per boat. There was one leader who tried to get in a boat
full of cubs so she would not get wet, with the boat being nice and light.
However, she ended up in a boat with 7 other leaders and got soaked.
There was a very organised Scout who was wearing water proof trousers and a
waterproof coat, she put the leaders to shame but ensured she followed the
Scout moto of be prepared.
After a long day we felt that a treat was in order and went to the chippy.
The lady in the chip shops face was a picture when we ordered fifty
portions of chips!
Finally to finish the day it was time for our final campfire. The cubs
dressed in their Indian waistcoats and head dresses and the leaders dressed
as Cowboys. We were also joined by two Can-Can girls!

Beaudesert Day 3
|
25th May 2009, 21:47
|
Well we've had a very busy day! This morning we went swimming so that the smelly leaders could get clean! After lunch went round some bases in groups.
We stacked crates, whilst standing on top of them, raced go-carts and did something called a low-ropes course where we have all kinds of obsticles to get over.
Here are a selection of pictures from today.

Beaudesert Day 2 (Evening)
|
24th May 2009, 19:45
|
After a hard day having fun and making things it was time for tea. A full roast dinner; roast turkey, roast potatoes, mash potatoes, peas, carrots with swede, gravy and stuffing.
I'm sure you will be surprised parents but I am pleased to report there were lots of clean plates. It really is amazing what they eat on camp sometimes with a little encouragement from the leaders for example:
Cub to leader: I don't eat potatoes.
Leader to cub: Do you eat chip?
Cub to leader: Yes
Leader to cub: Well roast potatoes are big chips just round!
We've had quite a hard day and are feeling very warm as the sun is shining so Kala decided that we should all play a game. We were told to get changed into shorts and t-shirts and head to the field with our mugs.
The game was simple a few buckets of water at one end of the field and a few empty buckets at the other end of the field. The idea was to fill up your mug and then run to the other end of the field and put the water into the empty bucket. The only problem was the leaders in the middle trying to stop us. Needless to say the game ended up as one big water fight. I'm not sure who came off worse the leaders or the cubs. This picture is of Aparache Six who are looking a little wet!
The cubs are decorating sections which when put together are going to make teepees.

Beaudesert Day 2 (Afternoon)
|
24th May 2009, 15:39
|
We had to cook our lunch today, its called backwards cooking. First we had
to go into the wood to collect fire wood to build the fires. Then we put
fairy liquid on to bottom of the frying pan to stop it burning and making
to easier to clean. Next it was time to cook burgers, sausages, dough
twists and toasted marshmellows with chocolate buttons - yum yum!
This is Sioux Six cooking their dough twists.
'My best bit of camp so far has been the backwards cooking and making the
dough twist' - Lucy Branson
'I liked walking round the castle ring because you were high to see things
but not too high as I am scared of heights' - Robert Sykes
'I'm really looking forward to toasted marshmellows!' - Jack Costagliola

This is Arapahoe six. Some tired faces - I wonder why? I'm sure they will sleep tonight!

This is a photo of Lewis and Robert with their toasted marshmellows.

Beaudesert Day 2 (Morning)
|
24th May 2009, 15:32
|
Its Sunday morning and we have woke up to beautiful blue sky with not a
cloud in the sky.
We've had a lovely breakfast of cereal and then scrambled egg, bacon and
beans!
Following breakfast we have started the day with grand howl with Jacob
breaking the flag.
We are now going to have an inspection which is when the leaders check to
see how tidy the tents are.

Beaudesert Day 1
|
23rd May 2009, 23:36
|
We have arrived safe and sound at camp. The cubs have put up the tents
with the held on one their personal scouters. They then stopped for a well
earned lunch break. After lunch it was on with camp kit and lots of sun
cream.
The weather is glorious, very warm and sunny.
Its now got to the time of day that the cubs are all enjoying a game of
bench football and the leaders are all having a little rest apart from
those in the marquee who are making tea.
